"First Official Gathering” Summary Report Now Available
Print copies of the Summary Report of the First Official Gathering of the Nunavut Roundtable for Poverty Reduction – held at the Frobisher Inn in Iqaluit in June 2013 – are finally available.
The summary report is posted here, or you can email us to request a copy by mail.
Why was this gathering named the “first official gathering”? (The first meeting of the Roundtable took place in the fall of 2010.)
It’s because the meeting in Iqaluit was the first since the Collaboration for Poverty Reduction Act came into force in May 2013, and the first to be convened under the terms of the MOU on the Roundtable between the Government of Nunavut and Nunavut Tunngavik Inc., signed in October 2012.
The Roundtable Gathering in Iqaluit in June 2013 was also notable because participants confirmed The Makimaniq Plan as the foundation for the forthcoming Five Year Poverty Reduction Action Plan, while calling for special emphasis on three key areas for action: healing, Inunnguiniq, and welfare reform.
